2011 Infiniti M37/M56 Sedan – Stylish with Power To Match

Luxury Cars - Auto, Sedan Comments (0)

The M series from Infiniti was introduced in year 2003 and annually the style and production and power of the engines have improved substantially. Like the 2010 M from Infinit the 2011 model is one sedan but with two options for engines and either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The following models are available: M37,M37x,M56 and M56x.

The DOHC V6 engines has been around for a while and this is the standard engine in the M37, it now features variable valve lifts and produces 330 hp and 270 lb / ft of torque. The output is now up 27 hp and 8 lb/ft more pull over previous models.
The fuel efficiency has also improved, now it gets 11.4 L/ 100km in the city and sips 7.6 L of fuel every 100 km on the highway for the rear wheel drive model. The all-wheel drive of course uses a bit more gasoline coming in at 12 L / 100 km in the city and 8.3 L per 100 km on highways.

The bigger brother the M56 has a 5.6 liter DOHC V8 engine with direct injection which now squeezes out 420 hp and 417 lb / ft of torque. The improvement from the previous engine is quite big with an increase of 95 hp and 81 lb/ft of torque. The gasoline consumption for the M56 is as follows, 12.9 L / 100 km in the city and 8 L / 100 km on highway for the rear-wheel drive model. The all-wheel drive model comes in at 13.4 L / 100 km for city driving and 8.5 L / 100km highway.

For sheer power to pass other cars you want the Infinit M56, however if you like stable handling performance go with the M37x. The M56 rear-wheel drive Sport Model has front 14 and rear 13.8 inch brakes for stomping braking power. Another feature of the Sport Model is the active 4 wheel steering which allows the rear wheels to turn 1 degrees to turn the car better, quite genius to be honest.

The M56 has 20 inch wheels fitted with low profile tires, while the M37x came with 19 inch rims and tires with a higher profile tire. Many drivers have noticed that the higher profile tires offerred a slightly softer ride.

To have the 2011 Infiniti M accelerate faster the standard transmission is a seven speed automatic. For quick deceleration, the transmission knows when you hit the brakes and blips the throttle automatically before down shifting, as if you are driving a standard transmission car. The Infiniti M’s seven speed transmission seems to blip and down shift at precise moments giving the best performance.

The styling of the Infiniti M series is thought to be better looking than other Infiniti models. It features styling ques like high front fender line with a low grille. Many of the style comes from the Infinit concept car called the “Essence” that were show at previous auto shows. The 2011 Infiniti is also wider and longer than its predecessor.

Like other Japanese luxury cars the interior is very nice with an instrument panel that has fluid lines, fine leather, wood all around and other finishing details. As for climate control you can get a optional system Infinit calls “Forest Air System” which vents breezes of air around the cabin so it feels like you are in a forest. In addition to blowing around air, the Forest Air System can also humidify the air and remove odour as well.

The 16 speaker BOSE 5.1 sound system is quite superb, Infiniti calls it an infotainment system. It has built in GPS Navigation and a 9 GB hard drive for you to store about 2000 songs on there.

Purchasers of the 2011 Infiniti M would expect advanced safety features for the price they pay for this vehicle and the Infiniti does not dissappoint. Standard are ABS brakes, stability and traction control and there is even a “Snow Mode” for better driving in winter conditions. One neat safety feature is the “Intelligent Cruise Control” which keeps your Infiniti M cruising along at a set speed, but will also automatically adjust speed so your bumper is always at a constant preset distance to the bumper of the vehicle in front of you, no matter what speeds you are going.

Pricing for the 2011 M37 is $47,700 USD, and the M37x will begin at $49,850. The big brother M56 price starts at $59,100, while the M56x is priced starting at $61,600.
