The Fifty Fanthoms divers watch by Blancpain was introduced over 50 years ago in 1953. It was part of the French Ministry of Defense initiative to have Blancpain created a elite combat diver timepiece.
The modern version of the Fifty Fanthoms features new automatic movement in a 45 mm stainless steel and water-resistant case which provides submersing of the watch to 300 meters.
The style of the new Blancpain Fifty Fanthoms watch features black dials and bezels along with canvas straps that are water-resistant because the straps are lined with rubber. All markings on the watch are luminescent for better distinction under water.
