2011 Mercedes Benz CL550 Sports Coupe – Luxury with Power

Coupe, Luxury Cars - Auto Comments (0)

If you take a look at the 2011 Mercedes Benz CL550 you won’t noticed much difference from its predecessor the 2010 Mercedes Benz CL. However, if you look under the hood and at chassis quite a few changes have been made.

For instance the CL550 now has a 4.6 liter V8 engine with twin turbo that outputs 429 horsepower and 516 ft/lb of torque…WOW that is some power. You can easily propel yourself from 0-100km/h (0-60 mph) in 4.9 seconds.

To put the power down the CL550 uses a seven speed transmission with Mercedes Benz all-wheel-drive (AWD) technology. The electronic stability system helps to keep the wheel from spinning too much when pedal is put to the metal and the power increases rapidly. This combination ensures a smooth but fast acceleration.

There are quite a few electronic assist technologies in the CL550 that are very useful for the driver. Take the Active Lane Assist system that vibrates the steering wheel and warns the driver, if the car wanders sideways to the other lane and there is also the Active Blind Spot Assist that uses near field radar to detect cars in your blind spot and warns you. However, if you decide to ignore the warning and turn into other lane anyway, the Active Blind Spot Assist system will apply the opposite side front brakes slightly to turn your car away, so as to avoid a possible side swipe collision.

Other safety features include Dual-stage front air bags, Window Curtain Air Bags, Front head restraints,Two rear-seat head restraints and much more. Rest assure that if you get into an accident in this sports sedan you have a high likelihood of surviving.

In terms of interior comfort of the Mercedes Benz CL550 there is a lot to keep you seated comfortably during your commute. The front sport seats are powered and adjustable 14 ways with 3 memory positions, including steering wheel height and mirror positions. If you are driving in the winter time you will appreciate the 3 level heated front seats to keep you warm.

All the seats are Premium leather upholstery and trim and the driver and front passenger have power-adjustable lumbar support. The driver would also enjoy the Wood/leather steering wheel. Hand-polished Burl Walnut wood trim adorns the center console and doors for that luxurious look of premium sports sedan.

In terms of enjoying your library of music and getting to where you want to go the Mercedes Benz GL550 features the harman/kardon® LOGIC7® digital surround-sound system with 11 speakers that total 600 watts of powerful sound , 5.1-channel amplifier and Digital Dynamic Volume Control. You can feed your favourite music CD into the single-feed 6-disc CD changer.

As for navigation the COMMAND Cockpit Management and Data system comes standard with the Mercedes CL550 where you get a 20-gigabyte hard-drive-based in-dash next generation navigation system that uses Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites to pinpoint the current geographical location of your vehicle. To have cell phone conversation while you are getting to your destination the system also has a Hands-Free Communication System.

Looking at everything the Mercedes Benz CL550 has to offer, it is easily to see that no much is missing. You will sure to be driving in comfort and have plenty of power for those open roads.
